Lumber Convective Drying Based on Controlled Moisture Transfer

چکیده
Wood drying (in particular lumber drying), which almost entirely determines the quality of wooden products, is one most complicated and energy-consuming processes in wood processing. Convective lumber, all its varieties, remains common by far. Computer modeling usually based on solving systems differential heat mass transfer equations. The methods for such systems, both analytical numerical, are well researched developed. However, important methodological issue correct formulation boundary conditions that determine process interrelated at interface (wood – moist air). convective has traditionally used type III Academician A.V. Lykov, characterized a sufficiently close correspondence between flows moving from depth interface. This described value so-called Bio criterion. A computational experiment was carried out to verify these assumptions. It enabled possible controllability moisture removal during low-temperature conventional using modes three-step stepless structure. Besides this, influence dynamics internal stresses also studied. results have shown modes, hand, offer significant improvement with practically no loss capacity, other better controllability. previously conducted mentioned studies made it propose general principles then patent system automatic control drying, fundamentally different known systems. controls adjusting ratio external transfer, rather than media parameters chamber. limited control: cannot fully stabilize values use maintains certain balance ensures required completely eliminates occurrence defects. Evaluation of convective mass transfer coefficient during drying of jaggery
In this paper an attempt is made to evaluate the convective mass transfer coefficient during drying of jaggery in a controlled environment. In this method, different masses of jaggery were used. The jaggery was dried in the roof type even span greenhouse with a floor area of 1.2x0.8 m in natural and forced convection mode at atmospheric pressure till it attained almost no variation in mass. The...
متن کاملModeling of Coupled Moisture and Heat Transfer During Wood Drying
Development of an accurate mathematical model of sufficient generality to evaluate drying processes in materials having diverse moisture transport properties is proposed. The process of wood drying is interpreted as simultaneous heat and moisture transfer with local thermodynamic equilibrium at each point within the timber. The model is a mathematical one treating wood as a continuous and homog...
متن کاملDetermination of the controlling resistance to moisture transfer during drying
In this study the correlation between lag factor G and Page ́s mathematical model parameter n was developed. Using the newly developed correlation the presence of internal or external resistance to moisture transfer during thermal drying can be verified. As modeling tools Artificial neural networks (ANN) and Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) were used. The best model for determinatio...
متن کاملProgrammable Control for Lumber Drying in Chambers
A programmable control system for the convective drying of lumber in chambers is developed, based on specially designed drying algorithm, which allows computing the set-point values for the temperature and the relative humidity of the heating and drying air as a function of the wood type, wood thickness and the current average value for the wood moisture content and wood temperature. The specia...
متن کاملConvective Drying of Gels: Comparison between Simulated and Experimental Moisture Profiles Obtained by X-ray Microtomography
In this work, internal moisture profiles obtained either by simulation or experimentally during the convective drying of resorcinol-formaldehyde gels are compared. Such a comparison constitutes an attractive way to validate drying simulation models. X-ray microtomography, a powerful 3D imaging technique, coupled to image analysis is used to determine the internal moisture profiles in a non dest...
